Stan’s Cafe present Of All the People in the World: North-East Worcestershire At Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings 1-2 and 5-10 April, open daily 10am – 4pm – included in entry to Museum For this beautifully simple performance Stan’s Cafe are bringing 1.12 tons of rice to Avoncroft Museum, a grain for everyone in the UK. Over the course of 8 days, a wide array of human statistics relating to the people of North-East Worcestershire will be carefully weighed out in rice and arranged beside each other in labelled piles. By doing no more than making abstract statistics tangible and placing them in careful relation to each other, Stan’s Cafe create a powerful work of art. It is politically engaged, subtly witty, diverting, shocking, humane and ultimately, deeply moving. Stan’s Cafe is a theatre company based in Birmingham whose witty and provocative work has been cropping up in unusual settings since 1991. Of All The People in All the World comes to Bromsgrove thanks to the North-East Worcestershire Cultural Compact, a new network of organisations working together to increase participation and involvement with local culture and heritage amongst residents of Redditch and Bromsgrove. Funded by Arts Council England, the network is working collaboratively to improve pride of place and increase participation and wellbeing, shining a spotlight on the undiscovered culture and heritage of North East Worcestershire.
