Introduction to Stained Glass

History:

Stained glass has been used for thousands of years, beginning with the Ancient Romans and Egyptians, who produced small objects made from coloured glass.

Course Details:

Join our hands-on workshop and learn the ancient craft of stained glass, inspired by the Museum grounds and our buildings. In this session you will:

  • Choose your pattern (two options will be available)
  • Select your glass
  • Wrap the edges of each piece of glass in copper foil
  • Learn how to solder to bind the pieces together
  • Clean and finish the item to takeaway

Unleash your creativity and craft something beautiful and unique.

Suitable for beginners.

Tutor details: With years of experience creating bespoke glass works across the UK and internationally, Marc is now dedicating his time to teaching.. His workshops and courses offer an inspiring opportunity to learn traditional stained glass techniques, including cutting, leading, copper foiling, all under the guidance of a master of the craft.

Fee: £60 or £55 for members. Includes Museum admission (£15 per person) and access to our 19-acre site and 30 historic buildings.

Participant information:

-The workshop will be restricted to a maximum of 8 participants.

-All materials will be provided.

-Over 18s only.

Refreshments: The Museum tearoom, serving a range of hot and cold food and drink options, will be open.
