Introduction to Natural Dyeing

Location: Town House, Avoncroft Museum

Course details:  Discover all the wild colours that are in the trees and plants around the Museum.  We will discuss what mordants do and how to use them, and the variabilities across animal and cellulose fibres. We’ll be using tree barks and leaves to make a selection of colours, dyeing small wool skeins and fabric samples.

Tutor Details: With an original background in conservation, Fay Jones has been playing, making, and teaching wood and textile crafts for over a decade.

Fee: £55 per person or £50 for members. Fee includes Museum admission (£15 per person).

Participant information: Suitable for beginners. Over 18s only.

Please arrive a minimum of ten minutes before the workshop starts, as it is being delivered within one of historic buildings down onsite.

Refreshments: The Museum tearoom, serving a range of sandwiches, will be open. Sandwiches can be pre-booked on arrival.

Cancellation Policy: All workshops are non-refundable, unless the Museum is required to cancel.
