Basket Weaving:

History:

Basket weaving is an important craft that can be traced back over 4,500 years. As the materials for basket weaving were all around our ancestors- plant roots, vines, brambles, grasses, rushes and tree branches- the art of basket weaving was quickly mastered, and baskets were widely produced and used to transport a range of products. The industry declined with the advent of plastics, but artisan wicker products, including baskets, remain in demand.
