Course Details:

Jenni will guide you through the process of producing your own attractive rag rug wreath using recycled materials to take home. Throughout the session, you will learn the traditional techniques of hooking and progging, equipping you with the ability to undertake further projects in your own time.

Tutor Details: Jenni Stuart-Anderson uses recycled and vintage textiles to make customised rugs and wall-works with contemporary designs. She also delivers a range of courses on the traditional rag rug techniques of hooking, progging (prodding) and plaiting (braiding). 

Fee: £40 per person or £35 for members.

Participant information:

Please bring the following with you:

  • Sharp scissors
  • Material offcuts (at least a carrier bag full). To start making a festive wreath, you may wish to use flimsy, shiny fabrics like scarves or
    net plus other fabric. Greens and reds look good for winter wreaths but try any colours you like. Mixed fabrics are also fine for a wreath.
  • Pictures of anything that inspires you, along with paper and pens if you would like help to work through a particular idea. You don’t need to have a design in mind, however, just a desire to make something.

Materials, including hessian, will be available to purchase at the end of the session.

Refreshments: Breakfast tea and filter coffee provided free of charge. The Museum tearoom, serving a range of hot and cold food and drink options, will also be open.

Cancellation Policy: All workshops are non-refundable, unless the Museum is required to cancel.
