Donating an object: We currently care for 30 historic buildings and structures dating from the 14th century to the mid-20th century, with the vast majority of these originating from the West Midlands region. In addition to this, we also possess a collection of c.15,000 smaller, everyday items which can be summarised as relating to domestic and working life within the region. We are still actively expanding our collection and are interested in acquiring items that represent working life relating to the West Midlands region, particularly items that: Add to our knowledge of the history and heritage of working life within the region. Have strong associated links with individuals, organisations or events. It is not always possible for us to accept every item offered to us for the following reasons: We already hold similar examples of the item in the collection. The item does not fall within our collecting remit. There is little associated information with it or no link to region. The item is in poor condition or contains hazardous material and, therefore, would be difficult to preserve. Hazardous items include firearms, objects containing asbestos, and explosive, flammable, poisonous, potentially carcinogenic or radioactive material. If you are interested in donating an object to the Museum, please contact collections@avoncroft.org.uk with a description of the item(s) you wish to donate and accompanying photographs and dimensions. Every offer will be carefully considered in accordance with our collecting policy and existing collections. Please do not bring any items to the Museum without contacting a member of the team first.
