Course Details: This hands-on practical workshop is designed to give you the tools to integrate herbs into your daily life. Gain the skills to safely identify a variety of medicinal plants and to make a range of seasonal herbal remedies than can easily be recreated at home to support and nourish your body after the winter slumber.

Throughout the session, you will:

  • Identify and gather a range of early spring plants that have medicinal uses in the beautiful setting of Avoncroft museum
  • Learn the medicinal and historical uses and folklore of a range of medicinal plants abundant in spring that can support us through the season after the colder darker months
  • Learn how to safely work with the plants making a spring tonic to nourish your body after the winter months and herbal remedies to support you and your family throughout the season.
  • Take home the remedies you make along with the recipe sheets so that you can easily recreate.
  • Sample a selection of herbal teas and infusions.

Tutor Details: Arlene Burnett is a medical herbalist based in the Birmingham, West Midlands. She is passionate about plants, health, well-being and education. As well as having a clinical practice, she runs a range of practical workshops on how to integrate herbs into everyday life as well as running an educational community medicinal herb garden in Birmingham and leading plant medicine walks for education and well-being.

Fee: £65 or £60 for members

Participant Information: All materials will be provided. Please bring appropriate clothing for an outdoor setting, as the session incorporates a walk of the Museum grounds.

Refreshments: The Museum tearoom, serving a range of hot and cold food and drink options, will be open.
