Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and recent changes to guidance we have had to make the hard decision to cancel this event.

Experience a trip back to the Midlands during the Second World War.

Join us as we turn back the clock to bring you the sights and sounds of Wartime Britain.

Discover how midlanders lived and worked during the Second World War. With reenactors, displays and shows across site this event is not to be missed!

Across the site you will be able to see:

  • Local army regiments, and examine the life of a Second World War soldier and see some demonstrations of drill and training.
  • The Women’s Timber Corps and discover how the midlands contributed to generating timber for the war effort.
  • The differences between the British and US army who trained in Herefordshire.
  • The vital role the midlands played for the RAF, with information about their operations at Pershore, Worcestershire.
  • The aircraft ferrying system of the Air Transport Auxiliary and how they had bases in Shropshire and Gloucestershire.
  • How midlanders lived during the period through demonstrations in our historic structures.

You’ll also be able to experience:

  • The music of the time, as performed by Vintage Class and played by Guy Roles.
  • Vintage vehicles
  • A 1940s fashion show, showing the original clothing of the era.
  • See vintage vehicles, fashions and other icons of the time.
  • ARP wardens and a host of other characters.

Please note this is strictly a Home Front we will not allow admittance to anyone in any Axis uniform. We will also actively be reminding visitors and reenactors of the need to ensure social distancing regulations are adhered to.

*Our with Gift Aid donation prices include a 10% voluntary Gift Aid amount; this means we can claim 25% of the value of your admission from the Government. Please Gift Aid your entrance fee if you are able, it really helps us continue the valuable work at Avoncroft Museum.

**Reenactor tickets are reserved for visitors wearing appropriate period dress for the British Home Front between 1939 and 1945. Admittance will not be granted for any Axis uniforms or equipment. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone breaking these terms.
