Christmas Through Time at Avoncroft Museum

Discover how Christmas was celebrated through the ages from our Christmas through time stocking trail, with historic homes decorated traditionally.’

13 & 14 December 2025

10am – 3pm

  • Christmas Stocking Trail Children pick up a handmade Christmas Stocking on arrival in our Visitor Welcome and visit our historic Christmas homes as part of our Christmas Through Time trail to see what you can collect to put in your stocking.
  • Extra stockings can be purchased on arrival – subject to availability
  • No Stockings alternatively you can also select tickets that do not include the stocking trail.
  • Christmas Decorations Enjoy the traditionally decorated homes
  • Tasty seasonal hot food and drinks available to purchase in our cosy tearooms.
  • Medieval reenactors – Stronghold Re-enactment  will be setting up a Medieval Christmas house hold in and around the the Town House Christmas decorations, cooking festive fayre, religious celebrations – including Christmas prayers in the Mission Church, other ecclesiastical work (primarily preparing beautiful documents, writing and illustrating them)
    preparing gifts, painting and  decorative textile work, winter chores (looking after tools, laying down winter stores, textile work) entertainment, gaming, singing, carolling, mummery.
  • Enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas with a Carol Service in the Mission Church and singing group Stream of Sounds will be filling the air with song.
  • Bromsgrove Recorder Consort will be playing on Saturday 13th December
“Bromsgrove Recorder Consort is a local musical group of recorder enthusiasts.  We play music from six centuries on seven different sizes of instruments.  Our smallest recorder is about the size of a pen and the largest is the size of a person!  Come and hear a lovely selection of music through the ages.  Recorders how you’ve never heard them before!”
