Avoncroft will be holding its ever-popular February Half Term activities again in 2019 with themed workshops and activities on a theme of Who Wore It Better? – Fashion Policing the Past will run from Tuesday 19th – Friday 22nd February. The week’s activities will focus on what ordinary men and women wore in the past (as well as some of the extremes of fashion from British History) from Anglo Saxon times to the 20th Century. Young visitors will have a chance to find out more about clothing of the past including opportunities to try on clothes of the types their ancestors would have worn. Activities will include hands on workshops to make a hat inspired by the past and a chance to design their own fantastic outfits. Outdoors, visitors can explore the historic houses where our costumed volunteers will show off their clothing and take part in the free Outrageous Fashion – Fab or Fail Trail around the Museum grounds. Activities are aimed at families with children aged 5 and above and parents are welcome to get involved. Activities in the Guesten hall are 90 minutes and start at 11.00am and 1.30pm. Pre-booking is essential. Children must be supervised at all times. Winter admission prices apply and Who Wore It Better? workshops are an additional charge of £3.50 per child.
